JOB TITLE: Executive Director

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Executive Director is responsible for the successful leadership and management of the organization according to the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors.
The Twin Falls Optimist Youth House, Inc. (TFOYH) was established to support young adults impacted by the foster care system and at risk youth aged 18-23 by providing safe, stable and affordable housing, as well as education and support services, as they transition into independent living. The TFOYH consists of three floors, each with bedrooms, bathrooms, and a capacity of 4-6 men or women per floor. The bottom floor also includes a training room and laundry facility. The TFOYH’s capacity is 17 including two live-in resident advisors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the daily operations and overall healthy functioning of the TFOYH program
- Oversee the TFOYH participants, staff (resident advisors and case managers), mentors and volunteers
- Enforce house rules, policies and procedures and hold participants and staff accountable
- Ensure all records are kept secure, confidential and up-to-date
- Respond to requests for information from the public, prospective participants or other interested parties
- Represent the TFOYH in a highly professional manner including public speaking and attending events
- Attend and report at monthly board of directors meetings
- Behave as a positive role model and foster effective teamwork between all program participants
- Provide a safe and supportive environment for participants and staff
- Ensure utilization of all safety measures including fire sprinkler system, security system, key codes, etc
- Remain on call 24-hours per day/7-days per week for emergency situations
- Delegate household tasks as needed to promote a clean, safe and comfortable living environment
- Send weekly updates to the President of the Board
- Fundraise to support the operations of the program and home
- Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors
SPECIFIC TO PARTICIPANTS & PROGRAM:
- Screen and interview applicants
- Administer agreements, house rules, and all necessary documentation for participant move in
- Assist to identify and develop plans to work with participants focusing on their specific needs such as those who are victims of trauma, drug abuse, etc.
- Work closely with the Case Manager to support the participants in their Individual Success Plans and life skills development
- Facilitate weekly house meetings and trainings
- Assist in onboarding mentors for each participant
- Maintain all necessary records related to the participants
- Reviewing, update, alter and suggest changes to the Policy and Procedures
Specific to Staff:
- Monitor work schedules, facilitate staff meetings and support training opportunities
- Conduct interviews, participate in hiring decisions, provide staff training, conduct quarterly reviews, handle corrective action or termination at the request of the Board of Directors
- Attempt to fill all vacancies within two weeks
- Maintain all necessary records related to the staff
- Ensure staff are also keeping well documented notes
- Follow all applicable employment laws and regulations
SPECIFIC TO FINANCIALS:
- Meet budget by monitoring expenses; implementing cost saving actions
- Raise $120,000 annually through grants, donations, fundraisers, and participant rent
- Plan and execute fundraising events
- Apply for and monitor grants, meeting all reporting requirements in a timely manner
- Improve financial status by analyzing results, monitoring variances, identifying trends, recommending action to the board of directors
SPECIFIC TO MARKETING:
- Ensure marketing information is up-to-date (website, Facebook, brochures, etc)
- Post/Email information about the TFOYH at least twice per week during fundraising campaigns
- Research avenues for disseminating newsletters (ie: Mailchimp) and submit newsletters monthly via email and social media
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3+ years of experience working with at risk youth or adolescent children or 3+ years of experience with program management
- Ability to keep thorough records of all activities relating to youth, staff, program and financial activities
- Must be a confident and responsible role model
- Experience working as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative and ability to work independently
- Pass a criminal background check and possess a valid driver’s license
- Experience with fundraising, grant writing or solicitation of donations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in human service or business-related field
- Ability to de-escalate youth in crisis situations on a consistent basis and work independently
- Demonstrate skills working with youth with a history of trauma or drug related issues in individual and group settings
- Non-profit experience
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Because of the life experiences and trauma histories of the participants, employees must not only supply adequate supervision and safety, but must be actively engaged in the process of building relationships, understanding and solving problems as part of a team and must offer energy, safety and commitment in their work with the youth through genuine, caring and empathetic engagement.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Resident Advisor (RA) facilitates the social, academic, and personal adjustment of program participants to the Twin Falls Optimist Youth House (TFOYH). The RA develops a sense of community among residents as members of a floor and active participants in the TFOYH life system. The RA serves as a positive role model to residents and peer staff members. The RA enforces the rules and policies of the TFOYH, dining, cleaning, and daily schedules. The RA acts as a liaison between residents, Case Manager, and Executive Director.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with the Case Manager to assist residents in achieving established goals
- Attend and participate in weekly and monthly staff meetings
- Assist in the supervision of the TFOYH, responding to all requests and emergencies during duty hours
- Actively engage in the process of building relationships
- Attend and participate in staff training sessions held throughout the year
- Contact the Executive Director or Case Manager on behalf of the residents regarding issues of concern
- Be available to residents on a daily basis
- Attend/facilitate independent living workshops
- Attend scheduled one-on-one meetings with the Executive Director and/or Case Manager
- Assist youth in adjusting to roommate and community living
- Actively encourage and promote involvement in workshops and activities
- Conduct periodic floor meetings for the purpose of planning experiences, disseminating information, and explaining policies and procedures
- Participate in disciplinary conferences at the request of the Case Manager or Executive Director and enforce consequences
- Monitor the condition of the TFOYH and fill out maintenance and custodial orders as necessary
- Respond to lockouts, emergency situations, and rule violations
- Provide adequate supervision and safety to all residents and staff
- Conduct fire and safety drills

JOB TITLE: Independent Living Coordinator
SUPERVISOR: Executive Director
WAGE: $15 an hour Part-time (20 hours a week)
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
An independent living coordinator accomplishes clients' care by assessing needs; developing, monitoring, and evaluating plans and progress.
Twin Falls Optimist Youth House is transitional housing for young men and women aged 18-24 who are aging out of the foster care system or are at risk. We do this by focusing on three primary areas which are education, employment, and independent living skills. The Twin Fall Optimist Youth House consists of 3 floors, each with bedrooms, bathrooms, and a capacity of 4-6 young men or women per level. The bottom floor has a training room and laundry facility for the youth. The Optimist Youth House’s capacity is 14 young men and women, along with 3 live-in resident advisors.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Determines participants' needs by completing needs assessments and creating a living plan.
- Be the youth’s advocate and assist them in advocating for themselves.
- Establish schedules and routines; coordinating services being provided; arranging resources, workshops, and events with the youth.
- Monitors cases by verifying clients' attendance; observing and evaluating responses; intervening in crisis; and providing personal support.
- Maintains clients' records by reviewing case notes; logging events and progress.
- Assists in the learning of life skills including but not limited to cleaning, hygiene, nutrition, finance, communication, health, and
- Foster a safe, nurturing, caring atmosphere for the youth who reside in the Youth house.
- Teach life skills to residents, including grocery shopping/nutrition, chores/cleaning/maintenance, manners/professional interaction skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2+ years of experience working with at- risk youth or adolescent children.
- 1+ year working as a case manager, documenting, supporting, and completing intake assessments.
- Must be able to pass and maintain Criminal History background checks and drug tests.
- Ability to thoroughly document issues with the youth in a timely manner
- Must be a confident and responsible role model
- Must be 21 years or older, pass a criminal background check and possess a valid driver’s license.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must be able to communicate efficiently both verbally and in written format.
- Ability to de-escalate situations.
